What is opt_seti-twm?
opt_seti-twm is my version of the OPT_SETI package for
Fli4L 2.x. It is based on the package from
Lars Winkler, which is available from www.schoeppi.net.
Thomas Creutz has taken my and Lars' version and improved the package.
Also, in contrast to me, he will give you support for his version.
You can find it on fli4l.alientxc.de (German only).
More information about the Seti@Home project can be found on the
Seti@Home homepage.
There is also a FlI4L Team at Seti@Home.
Note:
I am tired that some people, to whom I gave my software for free,
are bitching
about that it contains bugs, that I take too much time for providing
updates or bugfixes or that I don't answer support requests or
answer them arrogantly.
Therefore I will, effective immediately, stop any support and
further development. The packages will still be available for download
as they currently exist, but I will no longer answer any emails,
accept bug reports or even fix any bugs. There will be no
adaptations to new versions of FlI4L unless I need them for myself,
and in that latter case there will no updated documentation, if I make
the updates available at all.

Features
opt_seti-twm differs from Lars Winkler's "official"
version in a few things:
-
The directory structure in the archive is correctly adapted
to FlI4L 2,x, that is it extracts directly into the current
directory, not into a subdirectory.
-
It is a ZIP archive and not tar.gz, which should be easier
to handle for Windows users.
-
It needs a hard disk and stores its data directly in a directory
on the hard disk. The backup functionality of the original package
has been removed.
-
The program's output is written to a configurable console
(default: tty7).
-
It contains a cgi script which displays the current progress
in a web browser.
-
It will at some stage contain English instructions (currently
there are no instructions at all).

In addition to this package you need the actual Seti@Home client,
in particular the Linux version linked against libc5, which is called
i386-pc-linux-gnulibc1-static. You can download it from the
download page of the Seti@Home homepage.
